Children of the Corn Remake

*Some spoilers to follow but I do not give a summary of plot*

So I finally watched the new Children of the Corn and as someone who not only saw the original but every single sequel this one was weak as hell. It’s basically like if you take the first 10 minutes of the original and make it the whole movie but then also jump to the last 10 minutes. They also changed the name of He Who Walks Behind the Rows turned him into this pathetically weak He Who Walks nonsense which makes me livid and they made him a completely different entity. Removed all religious/cult like themes from the storyline, which oddly made it less believable. It clearly made the kids less successful and it was the beginning of neutering He Who Walks Behind the Rows. In the original he’s a demon or perhaps even Satan himself and completely unkillable. The kids being part of a cult also meant wherever they went he went and allowed his work to be spread all over (hence 6 sequels). In this one he’s a corn monster that’s easily killable. All the characters are unlikable. All of them. The CGI made some scenes absolutely comical. Also pretty disappointed that a bunch of kids die in the first 10 minutes of the movie, the death of a dog is described, and a hog is also killed. And if you know anything about the original, the majority of the other deaths in the movie are surprisingly tame. There’s a lot less gore than the original. My other big pet peeve is the main character lighting fuel on fire, the fire should have also traveled back to the car that was still dripping gas everywhere and also probably to her since she was coated in it but instead just travels to all the places she’s been as if fire can only travel in one direction.

I give it 1 star for the miraculous feat of making me dislike literally every character and think most of them deserved their fates. But honestly just skip it. Go watch the original and then if you enjoy the original watch the sequel Isaac’s Return. The original and all the sequels are currently available on Max.

New music from Mick Mars!

The Alien Goth God himself has given us a Halloween present. Clearly Motley was holding him back because this was amazing on every single level. Mind blown 🤯 Look at the aesthetics of the video. And the song itself. I literally cannot wait to hear the rest of the album!

What is your favorite type of weather?

My favorite favorite above all is when its super foggy outside.

But my other more common favorites are misty fall days and also in the winter when it’s still kinda warm but just cold enough to snow and not completely melt the next day. I love the snow and love when it’s warm enough to actually go outside and enjoy it. Spring is here in Michigan but luckily we got a few weeks of that warmer but snowy weather before winter left.

What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

Ella is actually my middle name. Fun fact I guess. It’s actually pretty special because it was also my great-great grandmother’s middle name. She died before I was born but she and my mother were really close. Ironically she and I are a lot alike despite her having not been part of my life. She was ahead of her time and divorced her husband (both my maternal grandparents actually come from a long line of divorcees stretching back to the 1850s, LONG before it was socially acceptable) and moved her and her kids from the south all the way up to Flint, Michigan to work for GM despite the fact that she couldn’t even drive herself and never wanted to learn to. (I was pretty much the same but did finally learn and got my license when I was 28). She never dated again let alone remarried and told everyone she didn’t have time for or interest in men. She had a close guy friend that worked at the factory with her that always asked her on dates and even to marry him but she always turned him down and she stayed just friends. She was also psychic and knew the day she would die for decades beforehand. She also had a twin brother who died before her, and on the day she died (which she’d correctly predicted) she saw her brother around her sitting in her room which of course scared the daylights out of the family. She was strong, stubborn, and I really truly wish I could have met her.

Supernatural news that will “move the needle”?

At the Dallas Supernatural con Jensen Ackles said there would soon be a big announcement that will “move the needle”.

We of course have no idea what it might be, but as usual the fandom is full of theories.

My current favorite theory was presented by @AbnosomeAlyssa on Twitter:

I’m wondering if the “move the needle” announcement is a network switch for The Winchesters from CW to HBOmax. It would then lead to talks about one last limited season of Supernatural, on HBOmax. And I think they will brand season 16 “The Final Hunt”.

It’s no secret that the final episode was largely disliked by fans as well as Jensen himself so the idea of another season with the possibility of maybe even retconning that disastrous episode is amazing.

Whatever the news ends up being, Jensen’s excited about it and the wait is killing me!

Evanescence Palette

Evanescence partnered with HipDot to release the most amazing makeup palette to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Fallen and its already sold out. Even I didn’t get my hands on one! And for good reason. Look at it!

Its perfect for what I like to call the Winter Girl aesthetic. And the cd packaging is a nostalgic bonus for many.

According to the website they are planning a restocked and you can sign up to be notified here.

Go listen to Bridgewater

Seriously. Go do it.

It’s so good. It’s possibly the best fiction podcast I’ve ever listened to. Yes, even better than Faerie which was my previous favorite. And Jeremy might be my favorite Misha Collins character of all time.

Right now is the perfect time to start listening or get caught up. The first two episodes of season 2 were released last week with a new episode coming out tomorrow.

Look. I’ve even made it super easy. You don’t even have to leave this page!

RIP Jeff Beck

Just found out from Mick Mars on Twitter that his hero Jeff Beck has passed away.

It was confirmed on his official Twitter account that the legendary guitarist died yesterday at age 78 from bacterial meningitis.

My heart goes out to his family and friends at this difficult time.

I can’t help but notice a certain irony in the news breaking today as it’s the last day of Bowiemas, and the anniversary of when the news broke about Bowie’s passing in 2016, also the day after.

Jeff was the special guest at Bowie’s July 3rd, 1973 show. The show was filmed but none of the versions below included these songs with Beck. But was found on a bootlegged early (possibly Italian) version and you can watch it below:
